Helen is a committed campaigner on improving transport for disabled people. Helen runs Dolphin Diversity where she advises government, public, commercial and professional bodies on how to improve accessibility. She is currently working for Great British Railways Transition Team as consultation and engagement lead for the National Rail Accessibility Strategy (NRAS).
In addition to her main job Helen Chairs the Motability Consumer Group (MCG) ) to help make the Motability Scheme better for current and future customers. She also Chairs the East Midlands Rail Inclusivity group, Co-Chairs the Heathrow Airport Access and Advisory group (HAAG), Chairs the Personal Mobility Working Group of the Disabled Person’s Transport Advisory committee (DPTAC), and is a member of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Consumer panel. She was awarded an MBE in 2016 for services to disabled people.
Before working in accessibility Helen was a TV news journalist for ITV Anglia where she won a top ITV news award for a report on buses in Norwich failing to pick up disabled people.
Helen became disabled when she was 22 when she lost both legs and hands to meningococcal septicaemia and has been a Motability scheme customer since 1999.
